Fresh from worldwide tours, LIMBO — The Return and Jean Paul Gaultier's Fashion Freak Show have landed in the river city. Not only have international artists come to Brisbane, but local artists have flown out of Brisbane Airport to collaborate on the world stage. Local multicultural artist Grace Lillian Lee visited Paris to work directly with Jean Paul Gautier and will be presenting the results of her trip on the runway and in The Dream Weaver: Guardians of Grace. The Dream Weaver: Guardians of Grace
Grace Lillian Lee was invited to connect with Jean Paul Gaultier in Paris to exchange knowledge, designs and inspirations. The local artist is known contemporary interpretation of a traditional weaving practice and groundbreaking collaborations with Indigenous communities, creating a platform for cultural expression and celebration by way of fashion performances.
Jean Paul Gaultier's Fashion Freak Show
Fresh from sellout seasons in Europe and Japan, it's now Brisbane's turn to bear witness to this Australian exclusive season. An explosive combination of both a musical revue and fashion show, the production depicts the sensational life of Jean Paul Gaultier against a backdrop of his generation’s most defining political and cultural changes. In a very special collaboration, Grace Lillian Lee will also unveil an iconic couture piece on the runway.
LIMBO — The Return
The award-winning LIMBO, which for over a decade has wowed audiences from Brussels to Bogota, is back in Brisbane, reimagined and more jaw-dropping than ever before. An intoxicating mix of cabaret, circus, acrobatics and ecstatic, heart-pounding live music, enthralling stage effects, and more, LIMBO — The Return is set to seduce audiences all over again.
Volcano
All the way from Ireland, the multi-award-winning Volcano invites audiences into a voyeuristic journey played out across four performances full of surprise and intrigue. A serialised live performance miniseries spanning four 45-minute episodes, Volcano crosses the boundaries of experimental theatre, contemporary dance and psychological sci-fi thriller.
Lord Mayor's City Hall Concerts Interstellar with Roger Sayer
Virtuosic and versatile, international organ star Roger Sayer was chosen by the iconic composer Hans Zimmer to create the prominent organ role for Christopher Nolan's gripping film Interstellar. Recorded at Temple Church, London in 2014, where he was Director of Music, Sayer marks the music’s 10th anniversary and global impact with this performance as part of his worldwide tour.
Latin Guitar Extravaganza
A feast of Latin guitars featuring Brazilian guitar sensation Chrystian Dozza alongside Karin Schaupp, the Riverside Guitar Ensemble and special guests the Open Conservatorium Guitar Ensemble conducted by Joel Woods. Experience the astounding capabilities of the guitar and see what masters of this classic instrument can achieve. From fiery tangos to languid milongas and toe-tapping sambas, this evening is a true celebration of the guitar not to be missed.
Paco Peña — Requiem for the Earth
A profound musical odyssey of passion and redemption, Paco Peña — Requiem for the Earth celebrates our glorious planet while issuing a stark warning: time is running out and we must act now to save the Earth. With lyrics in Spanish and Latin, this stunning performance intricately merges the solemnity of a traditional Requiem with the vibrant energy of flamenco.
