7 Dreamscapes to Take Your Breath Away

#Life is like a dream at these Brisbane Festival events.

Enter worlds of imagination, created with stunning lights, larger-than-life installations, or breathtaking sets.

Private View

19 — 21 Sep

Private View

Private View immerses audiences in a voyeuristic journey, revealing the romantic dreams and hidden desires of individuals with intellectual disabilities. With haunting melodies by Carla Lippis underscoring each scene, the performance challenges societal taboos and redefines perspectives on sexuality and disability. This intimate and evocative dance theatre piece blurs the lines between observer and observed, creating a profound exploration of human connection and longing.

Lightscape

28 Aug — 12 Oct

Lightscape

Back by popular demand, this globally renowned, multisensory phenomenon of light, colour and sound showcases Brisbane’s City Botanic Gardens in a new light, with breathtaking installations created by acclaimed local and international artists. Wander beneath towering tree canopies illuminated in colour, stroll beneath larger-than-life flowers, alongside shining neon roots, and through dynamic glowing tunnels.

Us & All of This

14 - 15 Sep

Us & All of This

Unfolding at Brisbane Powerhouse Forecourt, this large-scale sculptural performance gathers 100 people to move together as one. Performers move with the landscape and each other, acknowledging our place in a complex ecology through a ritual of unity.

ChronoHARP

30 Aug - 8 Sep

ChronoHARP

Unlike its inspiration, which is designed to be played by a single person, ChronoHARP invites participation, reacting to human movement by casting vibrant animation through its woven structure. A mind-boggling interactive sculpture, make sure to visit ANZ Festival Garden to take in its majesty.

Lighting the Dark

12 - 14 Sep

Lighting the Dark

Chris Dyke, an artist who champions inclusivity, emanates compassion, transcending limitations and inviting us all into his radiant embrace. Yet, amidst his rich internal landscape of dreams and boundless imagination, the world often fails to see beyond the cover of the book — a book that if we dared to open, would reveal radical inspiration, creative brilliance, hope and love.
Join Chris and Dancenorth ensemble as they dance to the very centre of what it means to be human.

Skylore - The Rainbow Serpent

19 - 21 Sep

Skylore - The Rainbow Serpent

Did you get to see Nieergoo: Spirit of the Whale, last year? Skylore returns with another incredible display of dazzling drones. Join us at the South Bank Festival Gardens or Queen's Wharf as 400 drones dazzle over Brisbane’s iconic skyline with a spectacular storytelling of The Rainbow Serpent.

Spirit of the Wild

13 - 14 Sep

Spirit of the Wild

A musical response to climate change featuring two major works from Nigel Westlake and John Luther Adams, captained by Chief Conductor Umberto Clerici for a voyage to wild natural places.

Interstellar with Roger Sayer

Tue 10 Sep

Interstellar with Roger Sayer

Virtuosic and versatile, international organ star Roger Sayer was chosen by Hans Zimmer to create the prominent organ role for Christopher Nolan's gripping film Interstellar.

Sayer shares his experience of working with two living geniuses of cinema before playing his version of the soundtrack and other space-related music. Totally epic.

Brisbane Festival expresses deep respect to and acknowledges the First People of this Country.
