People make Brisbane Festival

Brisbane Festival is made possible by the people involved. Through artists, volunteers, staff, and crew, the Festival brought to life through collaboration.

Audience members also play a key role in making the Festival so special. Brisbane Festival Sponsor and HR specialist Converge recognise the important role individuals play in the workplace and in collaborative environments. Converge specialises in the delivery of solutions which align with a company's people, practice, and strategy. Focusing on collaboration, these events showcase audience participation and are the perfect way to be a part of the festival.

Neighbourhood Centres

Neighbourhood Centres

In keeping with our ethos of making the arts accessible to as many Brisbane-ites as possible, Brisbane Festival is partnering with communities across the length and breadth of Brisbane, bringing fashion and design to the suburbs and dance to the districts. The 2024 Communities program will celebrate accessible arts with delivery of 49 workshops across 9 Neighbourhood and Community Centres. Participation in these workshops is free and everyone is welcome.

Brisbane Serenades

Brisbane Serenades

Brisbane Festival’s smash-hit Serenades program is back for its fifth year. This year, we present five incredible outdoor concerts, taking place from north and the south, amongst the city’s gorgeous green spaces, gardens, parks and rivers. Come along to experience the joy of music, dance and connection, and celebrate an illustrious array of diverse talents showcased across traditional and modern genres, spanning cultural, classical, jazz, indie and more. Gather your family, friends and neighbours as we serenade creativity, culture and community.

ChronoHARP

ChronoHARP

Unlike its inspiration, which is designed to be played by a single person, ChronoHARP invites participation, reacting to human movement by casting vibrant animation through its woven structure. As the audience interacts with the work the light will transform from a white prism to a colourful spectacle, culminating with a light and sound show when at full capacity. Come and be immersed in a moment of creativity and connection.

Us And All Of This

Us And All Of This

Unfolding momentarily on the Brisbane Powerhouse Forecourt, this large-scale sculptural performance offers a rare moment of calm reflection, gathering 100 people from all walks of life to move together as one. Created by Liesel Zink with sound artist Lawrence English, this mesmerising dance performance explores assembly and collectively as an antidote to a capitalistic era of over-productivity, disembodiment, and dislocation.

Flow

Flow

Flow is a site-specific immersive installation that beckons the audience to explore the depths of shared human emotion through the metaphorical lens of water. The interactive artwork uses projection-mapped generative animation, electronic modular sound and a custom audiovisual sensory system to invite participation. As viewers encounter their own reflections personified as water, they connect and gain agency within the artwork's narrative, becoming protagonists in the experience.

Spectrum of Happiness at Portside Wharf

Spectrum of Happiness at Portside Wharf

Spectrum of Happiness is an interactive swing that invite people of all genders and generations to experience shared moments of happiness together. By swaying on the swings, people activate the movement of the LED ball over their heads, and also create a collaborative music together where their communal joy brightens above the sky.

Common People Dance Eisteddfod

Common People Dance Eisteddfod

The Common People Dance Eisteddfod has now become a tradition here in our fair city. Teams from across South-East Queensland will battle it out over one epic night and need you to cheer and shout as they dance the night away. Dressed in sequined armours, the mighty suburban gladiators will meet on neutral territory and dance it out to see who will be the 2024 Common People Dance Eisteddfod winner.

Converge is a proud sponsor of Brisbane Festival.
