An intoxicating mix of cabaret, circus, acrobatics and ecstatic, heart-pounding live music, enthralling stage effects, and more, LIMBO — The Return is set to seduce audiences all over again. Can’t wait to see the return of this international hit? Here are five fun facts about the production!
#The award-winning LIMBO is back in Brisbane, reimagined and more jaw-dropping than ever before.
Madonna (yes, THE Madonna!) is a huge fan
After premiering at Adelaide Fringe in 2013, the original LIMBO went on a worldwide tour that visited many major cities including London. While in London Madonna saw the show not once but twice! She loved LIMBO so much that she went on to work with Scott Maidment, Strut & Fret Creative Director on her Rebel Heart Tour and two of her birthday parties.
LIMBO’s original score provides a completely distinctive and ethereal sound.
Featuring an original score by New York’s Jank master Sxip Shirey and a lineup of unique instruments, LIMBO is like nothing you have ever heard. The eclectic array of instruments featured include mutant harmonicas, Ukrainian jaw harps, siren whistles, megaphones, an industrial flute, resophonic guitar, foley sound effects, electric guitars, drums, moog, polymba and more.
The original LIMBO is one of the longest running internationally toured circus shows ever!
Since the Australian premiere in 2013, LIMBO has visited a staggering 17 countries. Many members of the original cast will be a part of the reimagined version, LIMBO – The Return. Polymba-player and inventor Mick Stewart is one-third of the band and has performed over 1000 shows and Sydney-born Hilton Dennis’ breathtaking tap-dancing routine is as high octane as ever over a decade on!
LIMBO kicks down the fourth wall
Like many Strut & Fret shows, LIMBO – The Return breaks down the barrier between audience and performer. A large portion of the show takes place in and above the crowd with a combination of impressive aerial numbers, giant swaying poles and a LOT of feathers. Let yourself be transported into the sinister netherworld that is LIMBO – The Return.
LIMBO – The Return is playing at the brand-new WEST END ELECTRIC theatre
Situated on Boundary Street, the brand-new West End Electric theatre will be home to LIMBO – The Return. The venue is the brainchild of Brisbane-born production company, Strut & Fret (creators of Blanc de Blanc Encore and The Party). Designer, James Browne, has created a chic and luxurious space with the essence of historical vaudeville, bohemian hedonism and abandonment.
