Big Name, No Blankets
Stomp your feet, clap your hands and get swept away by this big-hearted story. Big Name, No Blankets celebrates the phenomenal journey and impact of Sammy Tjapanangka Butcher, one of the founding members of Australian music icons Warumpi Band in an epic rock 'n' roll theatre show. Warumpi Band is the original First Peoples rock band to sing in language, known for their anthems 'Blackfella/Whitefella', 'My Island Home' and 'Jailanguru Pakurnu'. Big Name, No Blankets is inspired by their rise to the top through their politics, presence, and potent rock 'n' roll riffs.
Common People Dance Eisteddfod
Get ready to shout for your favourite dance crew and bring your loudest outfit at this dance battle for the ages. The Common People Dance Eisteddfod has now become a tradition here in our fair city. Teams from across South-East Queensland will battle it out over one epic night and need you to cheer and shout as they dance the night away. Join 1500 delighted fans for an evening of spandex, sequins, and pure joy.
The Alexander Ball
Mother of the Brisbane Ballroom scene Ella Ganza invites you to chant and scream at a night of drama, chaos, notoriety and status. Ballroom houses from across the country and overseas will battle it out for the Grand Prize. The best way to show your support is to clap, snap, and shout as the Princess Theatre comes to life for The Alexander Ball.
Moorooka Block Party
Bop, dance, jump, sing and revel in celebratory sounds, from afro beats to carnivalesque grooves, guitarra to gourds, didgeridoo to djembes to Saraswati veena. Back for year three, the crowd-favourite Moorooka Block Party will kick off Brisbane Festival’s Serenades program with an impressive line-up of Australia's finest First Nations and World Music performers.
LIMBO — The Return
From the creative producers of Blanc de Blanc Encore and The Party, LIMBO — The Return transports audiences to a sinister netherworld with live music composed by New York’s Jank master Sxip Shirey.
