Brisbane Festival is BACK from 1—23 Sep 2023

This year’s Festival will again super-charge September with a huge array of local, national and international artists and must-see events across Brisbane.

Artistic Director, Louise Bezzina said that the BrisFest team is finalising the 2023 program, and there will be a few surprises in store that are sure to make Brisbane the place to be this spring.

Brisbane becomes the stage for incredible arts experiences over September and it is a great thrill and privilege to program events that amaze, inspire, thrill and challenge audiences, both locally and from interstate.

The opening weekend celebrations will include Riverfire by Australian Retirement Trust which will ignite the city skies on Saturday 2 September.

Brisbane’s best fireworks extravaganza, with electrifying pyrotechnics launching from bridges, barges, and rooftops across the city, is just one of the stunning opening events that will launch the three week city-wide celebrations.

Stay tuned for more announcements to come, including a large-scale First Nations-led visual spectacle celebrating the beauty, creativity and wisdom of Australia’s Indigenous culture, led by Shannon Ruska and Tribal Experiences.

Audiences can once again tune into Triple M’s live broadcast, Channel 9’s exclusive television coverage or grab a front row spot along the Brisbane River for Riverfire by Australian Retirement Trust.

Want updates on vantage points, display times and road, bridge and river closures closer to the event? Keep your eyes peeled on the BrisFest socials and be sure to sign up to our mailing list. You'll also receive exclusive presale access to top shows and special events in late May and the full Brisbane Festival program when it's released in early July!

Brisbane Festival is an initiative of the Queensland Government and Brisbane City Council.
