Write Your Heart Out
Presented by Museum of Brisbane and Brisbane Festival
Tell us a love story…
Museum of Brisbane will burst with stories from the heart throughout September.
Inspired by Trent Dalton’s Love Stories, you're invited to share tales of first, enduring, or lost love in a pop-up writing experience this spring.
Motivated by a personal moment of profound love and generosity, bestselling author — and one of Australia's finest journalists — Trent Dalton spent two months in 2021 gathering stories on his sky-blue 1960s Olivetti typewriter, on a prominent street corner in Brisbane’s CBD.
Speaking to Australians from all walks of life, he asked them one simple thing: 'Can you please tell me a love story?' What followed was Dalton’s unashamedly joyous collection of Love Stories.
Now it's your turn to scribe your very own love story and immerse yourself in tales of happiness and heartbreak from across the city.
Write your heart out pop-up

Time: 12:00pm–2:00pm
Location: King George Square
Ages: All ages
Share the love in a one-day only pop-up writing event with Trent Dalton and a troupe of emerging writers!
In 2021, writer Trent Dalton spent two months sitting on a street corner of Brisbane’s CBD armed with a 1960s Olivetti typewriter and sign saying “sentimental writer collecting love stories”.
The result? Love Stories, a best-selling homage to our city’s rich and complex relationships. Now it’s time to dust off the old Olivetti and revisit where it all began.
Join Trent and a troupe of emerging writers in King George Square on Friday 6 September from 12pm-2pm to help continue sharing the love, in a one-day only pop-up event. Whether it’s love lost or found, brief or everlasting, pour your heart out and help continue the legacy of sharing the love this Brisbane Festival
