True Stories: The Power of Authenticity and Opportunity

Who taught you how to be your ‘true self’?

We all grow up dreaming of a meaningful life, but no one finds out who they want to be all on their own. Often, it’s artists, storytellers, educators and other inspirational influences who help us find our purpose and unlock the doors to opportunity.

This panel will explore how human beings learn to be our authentic selves, the social forces that shape this journey, and how courageous creative expression can reveal new ways of being in the world.

Guests are invited to enjoy exclusive after-hours access at Museum of Brisbane between 5pm-8pm and explore Trent Dalton’s Artist in Residence project, Write your heart out before or after the show.

Panel:

Trent Dalton, author

Jaguar Jonze, musician (Festival performer, St Lucia Serenades)

Fred Leone, musician/artist (Festival performer, Meeanjin Songlinez)

Professor Deborah Terry AC, UQ Vice-Chancellor and President, internationally recognised scholar in social psychology.

Moderator:

Jennifer Karlson, UQ Vice-President, Advancement and Community Engagement
