Jean Paul Gaultier: Freak & Chic

Presented by Brisbane Festival, Screen Queensland and Alliance Française de Brisbane

Jean Paul Gaultier: Freak & Chic
Jean Paul Gaultier: Freak & Chic

Go behind the scenes and plunge into an eccentric and provocative universe.

In the documentary Jean-Paul Gaultier: Freak & Chic, the playful genius offers an all-access pass into the intense two-year making of his lavish cabaret Fashion Freak Show in a vibrant homage to the artist's life and work. The film is the perfect companion to Jean Paul Gaultier's Fashion Freak Show which takes up residence in Brisbane as a sensational centrepiece of this year’s Festival.

Filmmaker Yann L’Hénoret follows the show from its infancy to opening night, capturing some moving, vulnerable moments along the way, such as Gaultier discussing the death of his partner of 15 years from HIV. Eye-popping costumes, extravagant set design, high energy choreography, and original music come together to form an otherworldly spectacle that could only spring from the mind of Gaultier.

Join us for this exclusive screening which will be followed by a not-to-be-missed panel discussion about daring to dream big and push boundaries.

A complimentary drink will be offered on arrival.
