ACO: Tognetti. Mendelssohn. Bach.

It’s a journey through classical masterpieces, contemporary innovations and the enduring love for music.

Sparks fly and melodies soar when Richard Tognetti directs music close to the ACO’s heart.

Renowned for his Bach interpretations, Tognetti melds the genius of Mendelssohn, Bach, and modern composers into a celebration of musical artistry.

Where Mendelssohn’s music is the pure pleasure of youthful exuberance, Bach is filled with drama, joy and remarkable discipline. Tognetti's recordings of Bach’s violin music have garnered three successive ARIA Awards, and live, his interpretation of the great Violin Concerto in A minor is a powerful experience, both intimate and electrifying.

The concert presents a new commission from the trailblazing young composer Jakub Jankowski in his first work for string orchestra and opens with Anna Thorvaldsdottir’s pulsating Illumine. Like all the best performances, this concert will remind you of why you love music.

Richard Tognetti continues to inspire audiences with his exceptional musicianship and innovative approach to classical music.

Tognetti and his group produced playing of fabulous alertness and tight ensemble; if there's a better chamber orchestra in the world today, I haven't heard it.
